I started Organic Chemistry Dating because I love helping people connect. I was longing for connection myself, and felt like there were few opportunities to meet other single people my age. Since the pandemic, I think a lot of other people have been feeling this way too.

My experience on the dating apps was…unpleasant…to put it politely, and I found speed dating to be really awkward. I didn’t want to do small talk or be trapped talking to someone that made me uncomfortable for 5-7 minutes. I wanted to meet people doing something fun, casual, and made me feel good regardless of whether I made a romantic connection with them or not.

Right now I’m doing this as a hobby on the side of my day job, and that’s enough for me. Even if I start seeing someone I will continue organizing Organic Chemistry events because it fulfills me on a deep level.
